A second year reminded me that...

It's a great feeling to know that I was a part of something amazing in high school. We weren't an innovative team or the next leaders of the world or young philanthropists of the year.  But we were a group of friends whose legacy resounded through the halls for years. We were legendary. 4 years ago, and yet people can still recall remembering our group of friends. And I wasn't just a part of that. It was what it was because I was a part of that.

And that is what I think of when I need an upper. Thank you K. for reminding me of that.

That's my G.B.

Selfish

I really don't understand how some people can be so selfish when it comes to what they want when they see animals.  They seem to only see pets as objects, with no feeling or thoughts for their own.

Sure they are cute, furry and fluffy.  Of course you want to pet them, and they often love being scratched behind the ear and groomed.  But they probably hate all the molestation and harassment and lack of personal space too.  People think that they have pets for their own comfort and pleasure, that they can call their pet's name any time and they will run blindly to the only happiness that they know.  Sometimes I wonder though if they just want their own time alone.

The worst part about pet owning is the owners though. Owners who don't know that it is their responsibility to train their pets properly.  People who move away to college, away from their pets, and want one so badly that they impulsively buy one "because they already know how to take care of one." But there is no foresight into this decision to adopt an animal.  No future plans, no responsibility with time, care, or opportunity.  They realize they don't have time to play or train their pet, and end up giving them away.
And that is horrible.
That poor creature has no idea why they aren't getting attention, what they did wrong to be sent away from who they recognize to a stranger and be expected to show the same level of trust.

Damn you, people. These are lives, too
